The Ohio Girl combines East Coast Style and Midwest Charm.  How can you possibly beat that?  If you're an Ohio Girl, or if you just love Ohio and connect with it, this t-shirt is definitely for you! 

According to Chris:

Design features a miniature state of Ohio graphic with an Ohio buckeye leaf - that's Hippocastanaceae Aesculus glabra to you and me. The peanut butter and chocolate buckeyes I purchased, then devoured in short order in German Village in Columbus were delicious, but I've been told the real thing is extremely hazardous to your health.  So you've been warned.  Stick to the chocolate ones. (Here's where I got 'em!)

The phrasing on this t shirt took shape from my many travels to Ohio, and this particular idea was inspired by a friend from Columbus, as true of an Ohio Girl as you can get.  "Ohio," she explained, "is not really really part of the Midwest the way, say, Indiana or Nebraska is.  It's really very East Coast.  The people here have got style.  They move a little faster.  They catch on to trends a little more quickly... you know what I mean.  So, I really wouldn't say we're Midwestern."

Point taken. So, as a slow-moving, non-trendy "real" Midwesterner, I went to work on this shirt, and this is the result.  Our wonderful artist Wayne did a masterful job with some tracing paper and the Ohio piece from my old "Game of the States" set, and we were off and running.

So what do I love most about Ohio Girls... and Ohio?  Let me see... Put-in-Bay is pretty amazing.  I spent a long weekend there in Summer 2009 for their Christmas in July celebration - they really, really know how to party. As I was standing waist deep with a drink in my hand in the pool at the MIST bar behind Mr. Ed's, I felt more like I was in Vegas than 3 miles from Canada.  And climbing the Perry Victory Tower, I discovered that Lake Erie is a beautiful, pristine, sparkling clear jewel of a body of water. Although I did feel a little queasy for a few days after that Lake Erie Fried Perch Sandwich. I also dig Skyline Chili, Jeni's Ice Cream, The Wright Brothers, Hocking Hills State Park, the Ohio River, and I love the Cleveland Browns' plain helmets and the Bengals' striped ones. And I love their devotion to football in Columbus.  And just to show that I haven't only seen the glamn side of Ohio, I once had to conduct a consulting training session in an unheated abandoned rubber factory warehouse building in Akron in the middle of January, 1996.  But it felt good.

Yes, there were times when Ohio and I had our differences.  In 2001, I drove 300 miles out of the way through Canada just to avoid Ohio.  But those days are long gone. I love you, Ohio, and I love you, Ohio Girls, and I'd really love you -- to buy -- this beautiful Ohio Girl TShirt!
