I've lived 5 places in Chicago, and I realized that with each move, I went both farther north and farther west, starting off in a corporate apartment downtown at 151 N Michigan Avenue, and making my way northwest.  It wasn't long that I lived here before I was in on the whole northside vs. southside rivalry, and now of course, I fully understand it.  I like being a Northsider, and all I can say is, I know that a TON of stuff has been written and said about the differences and culture clash between the 2 sides of Chicago, so I don't have much original to add.  But as I did observer sometime in the mid-90s, "You know, I could live my whole life between North Avenue, Lake Shore Drive, Ashland, and Waveland, and I'd be totally content."
