Iowa, again, is a state where I really like almost everyone I've met from there, and Chicago is full of people from Iowa, and/or who went to University of Iowa or Iowa State.  I have driven across Iowa a few times, but the only time I've gotten to stop and smell the corn was when I went to my friend Bill's wedding in Ames, Iowa, where I spent labor day weekend 1999.  Fun times, GREAT STEAK, and except for the speeding ticket in Davenport, it was all good.  The OTHER time I was in Iowa was my 2001 Cross-Country Trip, where I explored the extreme northeast corner of the state, and crossed the Mississippi to see the great city of DUBUQUE, home of my legendary friend, Eric, man of the world, and all-around great guy.  In our many discussions throughout the years, he'd always hearken back and wax eloquent on how it was his solid Iowa upbringing and connection to his home state that was the foundation of his character.  Anyway, I got gas and a taco there, then moved on.  I also stopped in BALLTOWN, which features Iowa's oldest bar and restaurant.  That whole area was cool, there are actually hills and bluffs along the river, it's not all flat.

So, Iowans, be you Hawkeyes, Cyclones, or otherwise, I salute you, you have a great state.  Someday, I'll see more of you, but in the meantime, I'll be proud to wear this Iowa T-Shirt!
