Whatever Happened to In Dusty We Trusty?

In honor of our humble beginnings, we thought it would be appropriate to dedicate a page to our very, very, very first t-shirt, "IN DUSTY WE TRUSTY" (IDWT) -- and if you were around Chicago in 2003 and 2004, and you were even marginally aware of Baseball and The Chicago Cubs, you almost certainly had heard this catchiest of all sports catchphrases, which launched this entire crazy enterprise. In a brief timeline, here's how it all went down...

November, 2002 - Dusty Baker hired as Cubs Manager. I was working at my last job. I was pretty excited hearing about Dusty Baker, pretty bored at work, and had a really good feeling about how he'd do with the Cubs. Within 10 minutes or so, the phrase, "In Dusty We Trusty" popped into my head. I rolled it around for a while, and told just a few people... did a Google Search... with quotes... no one had ever thought of it.
March, 2003 - Laid off from job, soul-searching, wondering what to do, I said, "Gosh-Darnit, I'm gonna make some In Dusty We Trusty T-Shirts. Figured out how to do it
April, 2003 - Went to game with a hand-drawn sign... seemed to get good reaction
April, 2003 - Received first batch of Tees, sent out to local media outlets and to the whole Cubs Team, including Dusty
May, 2003 - Dusty Baker called me, thanked me for the shirt, invited me to Dugout to take picture with him before the game!
May, 2003 - Interviewed in segment below by Corey McPherring of Fox News
May, 2003 - Sold lots of shirts on rudimentary web site and few other outlets...
Summer, 2003 - Cubs lagged, interested lagged, I made a few other tees and sold them at a couple of Street Festivals
September, 2003 - Invited to go on WGN Radio Steve Cochran show to talk about IDWT shirts; PR agent heard me, pitched story for free to Tribune; article ran in tribune
October, 2003 -- Selling shirts like crazy; all my friends helping me; taking wheelbarrows of shirts to post office; I am filmed to be in a Master Card commercial that was to air during World Series
October 14, 2003 - Bartman
October 16, 2003 - Sales Drop to Zero
Early December, 2003 - Emerge from apartment, bathe, and shave for first time since October 16. Get it together in time for TBOX8.
2004 - Kinda figure out t-shirt business a little more; make IDWT 2004 edition, but the magic is gone
2005 - We start becoming more like the t-shirt company you see today!
